During the summer season Kolbeinstveit is an active museum farm featuring farm animals and its own hosts that welcome you upon arrival. Our guides can tell you about the history of the farm or cook you a traditional meal. There are alternating exhibitions at the farm, as well as concerts, activity days and market days.

When you enter the farmyard, it is like if  you step 150 years back in time.

The main buildings in the yard are the dwelling house and the barn, built here about 1850.

THE GUGGEDAL STOREHOUSE

Guggedalsloftet, an ancient storehouse, which stands in the middle of the yard, originally stood at Bråtveit farm in Suldal. The upper part of the building is dated to 1281, while the lower part was built around 1340.

This is the oldest still-existing wooden building in Rogaland county. It is thus a unique part of our building heritage and an important cultural monument.

Look at a pictorial game about Guggedalsloftet.

CHILDREN

The farmyard is especially well-suited to visits by small children because we have old-fashioned games to play, haystacks to jump in and old-fashioned clothing for dressing up. There are also many farm animals at Kolbeinstveit.

EXHBITIONS

There are several exhibitions at Kolbeinstveit. The permanent exhibition, “The farm and its people”, tells of those who once lived here, how they used the buildings and utilized the farm’s resources.

Every summer there is also a new thematic exhibition or a sales exhibition of local art and craftwork.

FORGE

In 2016 the forge at Kolbeinstveit was restaurated. During the summerseason we will fire opp the forge on special occasions.

FOOD

The farm hosts serve local traditional food. You can buy butter porridge, Suldal ham, and Suldal snacks. Coffee and freshly baked waffles are also available.

ARRIVING HERE
